Born To Tri

http://www.jsmultisport.com/?page_id=295 http://www.jsmultisport.com/?page_id=295 Bradford and I signed up for our first Triathalon. It's a sprint tri in Asbury Park on July 28th. We're doing it with Eileen and her BF, and my friend Laura. I know I can handle the bike and the run, but I gotta admit, a bit freaked out about the 1/3 mile ocean swim. I know I can do it, but my swimming endurance is pretty pathetic... I hope I get a chance to train! Though with everything else going on, who knows. Fingers crossed, pinkies up, nobody on the corner knows how to swagger like us!

Spring Lake 5, 2012

My brother and I. Scary, right? Brad, Chris and I ran the Spring Lake 5 Memorial Day Weekend. Chris had to stop for about 25 photo ops, but we all manage to finish in about 46 minutes, despite over 8,000 people running through the narrow streets of the Irish Riviera. Afterwards we indulged in the requisite Jersey Mike Subs, Honest Tea, and other goodies. It was awesome!

84 degrees for the run on Saturday. Oh boy. And here I am, watching hockey. I love irony. Go Rangers!

Feel the Rhythm, Feel the Rhyme...

Get On Up, It'S Bobsled Time! COOL RUNNINGS! Ok. I admit it. This movie always makes me cry. No matter what. It's up there with Mighty Ducks I and II. A real tear jerker. I love a good underdog story, but I dislike it when the underdog loses. I know, I know, it's pure statistics and math and other unsentimental endeavors. Sigh. This weekend, Brad and I are running the Spring Lake 5. We've run a few 3 milers last weekend, so I'm sure we'll be fine, as long as it's not 90 degrees. 'Til then, I'll be here, crying over Cool Runnings. Mostly because it's a metaphor for my own students. Underdogs who can't quite pull it together, and by the time they get close, it's too late. Makes me weep. Working on that whole happy thing...

Desperately Seeking...

1. A job. 2. A house. 3. Happiness. Everything happens for a reason, oui? I've been reading the Happiness Project. And I've been inspired by my friends, who have suddenly all decided to take a break from work. 30 is the new retirement age? Perhaps. I'm a good teacher. My students didn't leave class today when the bell rang. And it was the last class of the day. On a Friday. When it's beautiful, warm, and sunny outside. Instead, they said, "You can keep going." I almost gave them all a hug. Not ONE moved. It was beautiful, and much appreciated. But even though I know I'm a good teacher, I still feel so unfulfilled. Like I'm missing something somehow. Brad and I ran tonight. My knees felt okay. The new Newtons help. I've become quite the speed devil; I actually beat Brad, legit, in a footrace tonight! We only ran 3 miles; we're back to training. Spring Lake 5 next weekend. Supposed to be 90 degrees or something else insane. Water stations anyone? Beebe's currently making brownies for our Engagement Party tomorrow afternoon. The house smells delicious. I've been eating too much sugar lately. It's replacing the wine.
