Calves And Deer

After sweating the mortgage stuff for way too long (still sweating it as we speak), I decided to get some real sweat work in. Yesterday, I woke up early (not work early.. 5:00 shouldn't come in AM as far as I'm concerned) and headed over to the Manasquan Reservoir, where I got a nice 5 Miler in wearing my NB Minimus trail running shoes. But, I was still all amped up, so I tacked on a 15 mile bike ride. And today, I can't walk. Haha. But it felt SOOO good to get some exercise in--it's been a while. I've been so exhausted! I guess I'll know more about what's going on with the house in the next few days... for now, I haven't a clue. But, a good run does make everything feel better. (Except maybe my calves!)

One Dinner Plate Please. Cruise Style.

Loving Life. I forgot what it felt like to be happy and stress-free. It's an amazing feeling. Now, some may argue that I should be stressed... The wedding is less than two months away and I still have a lot to accomplish... We haven't closed on the house, and there's still a lot of ridiculous paperwork that is sent my way almost daily. I am still in the process of learning and writing three completely different curricula for my new job. We joined a softball league AND a touch football league. I'm hoping to be an assistant track coach for the girls' team (and maybe a full-time coach in spring). I have to be at work by 6:30 AM. All of this should be making me nuts, right? No. Not at all. Living down the shore, breathing salt air, being in a well-organized school with positive, happy, generous people... it's all wonderful. I haven't felt this good in years. So I'm super lucky, and very appreciative. And I'm glad I had the guts to shake things up, even when it seemed like it was too much to handle. What will I ever do if I have some free time? I think the track coach at my new school put it best: You're from NY. Putting too much on your plate is what you do. (And it is, even literally. Mmm buffet!) You wouldn't feel comfortable without a million things to do. So true. Maybe one day I'll learn how to slow down. Probably not, but maybe!

Life, Glorious Life

So, my running has taken a back seat. Mostly due to life being pretty hectic. A wicked eye infection kept me from competing in Asbury Park's Triathlon, which was totally a bummer, but probably for the best because I was pretty severely undertrained. I could have finished, don't get me wrong, but it probably wouldn't have been very pretty. In other crazy news, Brad and I are officially under contract for a house in Oceanport, NJ. So tomorrow, we are moving, with a real truck and all, into a storage facility. Hoping the closing is around Sept. 17th, which is Rosh Hashanha, and I am off, and that would be glorious. We shall see. I'll feel a lot better, and a lot less anxious, once we have most of the stuff out of our apartment and into storage. I guess we'll be living at the shore house for a few weeks until we can move into our new digs. I have been lesson planning non-stop for three completely different curriculums which is intense and more difficult than it sounds if you're not a teacher, packing non-stop, and then falling asleep to the Olympics at night. I think the stress of planning everything (new job, new house, new husband-to-be) is finally catching up with me. I am definitely on edge, and very much looking forward to a relaxing cruise in Alaska. We leave for that on Friday. But, there are a few loose ends we need to take care of before then... like packing. Haha. More packing. Ahhh. But, also, I am going to proctor the Regents at my old school Thurs and Fri, mostly because it's a little less than $40 an hour to watch kids take a test, and almost $600 before taxes if I work a day and a half. So, as stressful as it will be to head back to the school I'm leaving, at least I know I'm leaving with some pocket change. Also, we are doing our inspection on Wednesday, and I just hope the house is solid at this point. Wednesday we are also going to meet our future friends at the happy hour in Rumson, because Brad and I are joining a touch football league this fall--branching out, ya know? I'm super super super psyched to be settled in one place and not live out of a suitcase every weekend. You have no idea. And Monday, I am going over to Freehold to try and get an employment verification letter for the mortgage and drop off some more paperwork to HR. Yikes! And at some point, Shea will have to go to Brad's parents' house, because that's where she is welcome. So yeah, a busy week, then a relaxing vacation, and then it gets all crazy-like again. But, that's life, glorious life!

Born To Tri

http://www.jsmultisport.com/?page_id=295 http://www.jsmultisport.com/?page_id=295 Bradford and I signed up for our first Triathalon. It's a sprint tri in Asbury Park on July 28th. We're doing it with Eileen and her BF, and my friend Laura. I know I can handle the bike and the run, but I gotta admit, a bit freaked out about the 1/3 mile ocean swim. I know I can do it, but my swimming endurance is pretty pathetic... I hope I get a chance to train! Though with everything else going on, who knows. Fingers crossed, pinkies up, nobody on the corner knows how to swagger like us!

Spring Lake 5, 2012

My brother and I. Scary, right? Brad, Chris and I ran the Spring Lake 5 Memorial Day Weekend. Chris had to stop for about 25 photo ops, but we all manage to finish in about 46 minutes, despite over 8,000 people running through the narrow streets of the Irish Riviera. Afterwards we indulged in the requisite Jersey Mike Subs, Honest Tea, and other goodies. It was awesome!

GTL

84 degrees for the run on Saturday. Oh boy. And here I am, watching hockey. I love irony. Go Rangers!
